Privacy Policy
Last updated · May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data Steam Pricing Tools (steampricingtools.com) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep this short and human-readable.
What we collect
Information you give us voluntarily
- Email address — only if you choose to enter it in the optional "Want updates?" signup banner. We use this exclusively to email you product updates and to follow up on feedback you've sent. We do not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties.
-
Feedback — anything you send to
[email protected]. We keep these messages so we can respond and so we can improve the product based on what we hear.
Information collected automatically
- Steam API responses — when you search a game or pull regional prices, we call Steam's public storefront API on your behalf and cache the response server-side for up to 24 hours. This cache contains public store data (game name, price, currency, release date) — no information about you personally.
- Anonymous usage analytics — we may use a privacy-friendly analytics service (Plausible or similar) to count page views and understand which tools are used most. These analytics do not use cookies, do not track individual users across sessions, and do not collect personally identifiable information.
What we do NOT collect
- Cookies for tracking or advertising
- IP addresses tied to your identity
- Browsing history outside Steam Pricing Tools
- Your Steam account, library, or any logged-in Steam data
- Payment information (the service is free; we don't accept payment)
How we use what we collect
- To run the tools (pull live Steam prices, generate recommendations)
- To respond to feedback emails
- To send occasional product updates if you've opted into the email list
- To diagnose bugs and improve the product based on anonymous usage patterns
We do not use your data for targeted advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making that affects you.
How long we keep it
- Email addresses: until you ask us to remove them. Reply to any update email with "unsubscribe" or write to
[email protected]. - Feedback messages: typically 12 months, longer if relevant to an open bug or feature.
- Steam API cache: 24 hours, then refreshed on next request.
- Anonymous analytics: aggregate counts retained 12 months; no individual session data.
Sharing with third parties
We don't sell your data. The only third parties that touch your data are:
- Steam (Valve Corporation) — the public storefront API the tools call on your behalf.
- IsThereAnyDeal (ITAD) — used by the Discount Planner to pull historical discount data for a game you specifically look up. ITAD receives only the Steam App ID, not anything about you.
- Streamlit Community Cloud — the platform that hosts the tools.
- Email service provider (if/when we start sending update emails) — a standard transactional provider like Resend or SendGrid.
Your rights
You can:
- Ask what data we have about you
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of update emails at any time
Write to [email protected] with the subject line
"Privacy request" and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Steam Pricing Tools is built for game developers, not for children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us their email, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material we'll bump the "Last Updated" date at the top and announce the change on the homepage. Continued use of the tools after a change means you accept the new policy.
